M.A Sociology and Social Anthropology is a two-year course. A Sociology student will study subjects like family interaction, religious traditions and organised crime and gain a better understanding of race, gender, and social class issues.
Sociology tended to be the study of the rural and urban dimensions of Indian society and the Social Anthropolgy of the tribal society. This distinction besides being problematic is also blurred. The two disciplines are intricately related to each other in regard to the subject they deal with and the perspectives and approaches they adopt. Sociology and Anthropology cover crime and law, poverty and wealth, prejudice and discrimination, schools and education, business firms, urban community, and social movements.

Eligibility Criteria for M.A Sociology and Social Anthropology
1. Applicants must have a Graduate qualification from a recognized university on any stream.
2. Applicants must achieve at least 50% to 60% of the points in the relevant proficiency tests.
3. SC/ST candidates can apply for a combined 40% proficiency test score.
4. Applicants must not be younger than 27 at the time of application.

2. Candidate to apply for each college, as each college considers each mark the cut-off mark.
3. Some private colleges and deemed universities perform their counselling process by conducting their university-level entrance exams.
